1993 F250 Turbo Diesel won't start
Greetings.
I am looking for some help regarding my '93 7.3L Turbo F250 not starting. I recently changed the fuel filter and had some issues re-priming. It has been running/starting fine since however. Yesterday it stalled while driving. I had friend bleed the air from the schrader valve on the fuel filter housing. It started and I thought it had just been an air bubble. It soon stalled again and would not start again. I put a hand pump on the fuel line after the filter to try to re-prime again, which worked last time. The pressure was inconsistent. If I did fill the line, after stopping the fuel would suck back through the filter (what it sounded like anyway). The truck wouldn't start even using ether. I also pulled an injector line off and while cranking the motor there was barely any fuel coming out.
Is this an injector pump failure? Or something further back in the line?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Sean

Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L) - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums Here is a link to the page for your engine, probably best to post the problem there.
However, from your description, your fuel lift pump may be bad. If you remove the core from the shraeder valve and crank the engine for 10secs you should get 1/3 pints of fuel out of the valve.
Also it is not uncommon for the fuel pickup pipe in the tank to crack/break and so no fuel will be delivered below around 1/4 full in the tank.
Post on the above page for more opinions.
