I have a 2000 7.3L short bed crew cab, what is the true diesel capacity?

Short beds have an official capacity of 29 gallons. Long beds are 38 gallons.

My "29 gallon" tank holds about 34 gallons. I routinely put 30-31 in when I fill up.

And I can get about 41 gallons in my 38 gallon tank also. Hence the "official" designation...

I've put 32.5 GAL in my short box tank a few times. I doubt there was room for another half gallon since my fuel pressure was fluctuating wildly and even dropping to zero as I coasted in the station.

Ive put 31 into my 29 gal. I think the specs are fudged a wee bit for the people who really love the push the diesel gauge.

You also have to consider the amount fuel in the filler neck. I know some vehicles that you can get almost 2 gal. in the neck!

not sure what mine holds but I did find out last week that I have a low fuel warning light! when I seen that I was hunting fuel right now, some day I need to throw a can of fuel in the truck and see how far I can go with the light on.

That happened to me one time also. Was quite nerve racking...
I can't believe I let it get that low. Never again (famous last words...).

Yeah I'm with bugbubba....

I get about 20-21 Gallons in my 29 gallon tank.... But I fill up at a 1/4 tank (havn't done the mods yet and won't be able to get around to them for quite some time.... dumb apartment complex)
