What vechicles will have the 4.4-litre diesel?
At the 4 th of August we could read in a local Mexican Newspaper the the 4.4-litre diesel that currently is produced by Ford plant in Chihuahua in small numbers for LandRover soon will be produced in large numbers.
The followup article at AWK said:
"Ford has now confirmed that its Chihuahua Engine Plant (CEP) in Mexico will produce over 750,000 diesel engines a year.
According to plant manager, Enrique Araiza, CEP's new Plant 11 facility has capacity to assemble 400,000 of Ford's 4.4-litre V8 diesel engines a year, as well as 200,000 upa of the 6.7-litre V8 diesel."
That was in Aug. Still none has heard any rumours? ??

I think it would be nice to bring this engine to market in the states. Vehicles I see as benefitting of it's implementation are the F150, Expidition, Explorer... Any larger SUV/smaller truck. Heck, even if the 4.4L was an option in the F250 that would be cool. If the 5.4L gas engine has been an option all the way up through the F350, why not?

With you all. I hate gas powered vehicles, unfortunately none of the manufactures have figured out that poor diesel sales were attributed to weak designs (GM Olds v8 diesel) or were stuffed into packages that were either too freakin' small (Jeep Liberty) or cost north of $40,000.
Anyhow, here's a 2012 Austrailian designed Ranger that has a 3.2 CDI diesel, 200 hp / 347 tq. The overall size is 6" narrower & 2" shorter than the 2011 F150.

About 2 months ago I responded to a burglar alarm at Brandies Heavy Equipment, which is a heavy equipment sales and service business here in Corbin, Ky. The employees were coming in to work at about 5 AM and set the alarm off. Anyways here's the point of this ramble, one of them was driving a company truck which was an F150, looked to be a new model. It was a 2wd extended cab white Ford F-150. Now it was early in the morning and I had worked all night so maybe I was a little sleepy but I stood there looking at the truck, it was running, and it had a diesel engine in it!! If it wasn't a diesel engine it was the loudest sounding gas engine that I've ever heard! Wish I had asked them to let me look at then engine and take a pic of it!

I don't see how Ford and the other big truck manufacturers are going to meet the new CAFE standards (including light duty trucks) WITHOUT having a diesel option...
I read last week that the DOE had pumped $15 million into a joint venture with Cummins and Nissan to produce a smaller effecient diesel. I believe it was a 2.8L and was suppose to get 30+ MPG...Google it to find out more.
