I have a 1962 534 engine in a fire truck. I need to know how many quarts of oil would this engine take and what weight oil ?

What number of Autolite spark plug does it take ?

by my book, the plug is a BTF-31, gap of .028 to .032 for normal and severe use only it says...
capacity is 11 quarts w/new filter according to my shop manual(65) but pan is same for all yrs, so should be the same

Hope this helps that bad boy cs65

I don't know about the climate where you are, but in the "Southern" states 10W40 motor oil is sufficient year 'round. Check the owners manual in most vehicles for an ambient temperature versus oil weight chart.

If it's a good engine without too many leaks or doesn't burn much, I recommend 5-30. It's thinner at startup so the oil gets to circulating quicker. Otherwise, 10-30 is the old standby.
