FE in a Fox body?

I was out looking at my truck today, and I'm not entirely sure I want to put the nice clean new 390 into that old rust heap. I like it, but it's got 3 things going against it:

1. Rust
2. Weight
3. Lack of rear traction

So I figured, the thing to do would be to drop it on, er, in, an '80's mustang. There's loads of 'em around here for fairly cheap. And they're light enough.

My question is this:
Does ANYONE make a kit to drop an FE into an '80's Fox body mustang?

Kit? Not that I know of.

Has it been done? Yes it has. A guy on another forum was running one with a 482FE. (no, not 428)

I think there are some kit pieces available. I know they make all you need to put one in a Factory Five Cobra kit, and that is based on the Fox body mustangs.

Canton makes a oil pan just for that swap. It is a rear sump pan.

How about a Scouder plate on the front and some tube for the chassis.

While a Scouder plate would be neat, I kind of want to keep it as simple as possible. Links to websites selling stuff for the swap would be much appreciated. Keep the information flowing!

Yeah.

Specifically, I think all I really need is motor mounts and a transmission adapter. What transmissions were in that vitage of mustang, and will they hold up to a 400hp 390?

The 80's 5.0 mustangs had AOD's and t5's in them...I swapped my AOD out for a B&M AOD and TC and it was good to 450hp. I think as long as the springs are stiff enough and you get motor mounts the rest is just cutting things out and fibbing to fit.
