I am now in the market for a set of rims for my 1952 F6. Do you have or know of any more?
Steve |
I am now in the market for a set for a 1952 F6. My truck is large (14 ft of frame behind the cab) so I want something that is rated to carry the load. Do you have any more wheels or know of any more? The ones in that CL ad looked great.

If you've read through this thread you know they will have a shorter diameter when fitted with 8R19.5" tires. These are 33.5" tall vs 37" or 38" for the original 7.50" or 8.25" x 20"s respectively. This will naturally reduce top road speed. Stu |
I need a set to replace my split rims
Hello,
Can you let me know how much for a set? I need to replace the 20" split rims I currently have. Thanks!

Glad that worked for you. Long drive but you saved money. Stu
Yes, I do have a couple sets here in Illinois. The wheels are each rated for 2500 lbs iirc, so that's 15000 lb total capacity. If you are using the truck commercially that might be slightly below an F-6's max when fitted originally with the optional 8.25" x 20" wheels/tires. If not used commercially you should be fine. Many F-6s have been set up with the 19.5s. If you've read through this thread you know they will have a shorter diameter when fitted with 8R19.5" tires. The cost to you is $85 each plus the $16 each it costs me to have tires pulled and recycled. Total for a set of six is $606. A bigger issue I fear is shipping to Tucson. I ship by truck via R&L Carriers. They shrink wrap them to a skid for safe transit. A 4' x 4' skid with six wheels weighs about 325 lbs. I drop them at their Springfield, IL, depot and generally suggest depot pickup at your end to save money. I'd suggest you call their toll free number to get a quote. It is (800)543-5589. They ship COD which keeps me out of that. They will give you a "quote number" that I would need along with your name, address, and phone to fill out the Bill of Lading.
Before going further I think you should be able to find a set nearer to you. I'll see what I can find on CL and suggest you check yards for Budd 19.5" x 6", 5 x 8" pattern, Budd #89340 motor home tubeless wheels. Stu |

22.5 rims
I just bought a '69 F-600 with a dump bed (used to be a fire truck). I'm restoring it and I want to find 22.5 wheels for it. It still has the 5 lug pattern 20 inch rims.
Anyone know what I need to do to get this done? |
I don't have any 22.5s but will check with a few friends that might have some. I'll come back here to comment when I hear back from them. Stu

Many, Many thanks! I'm new here but an old dog when it comes to workin' on old trucks. I'm a former heavy equip, diesel engine mechanic but went into law enforcement in the '80s. Retired now and just bought this truck to haul my bobcat and do tree work and totally enjoying restoring it! (except for the old man aches and pains)
Again, thanks for checking around |
Here's a pair on eBay to get you started on a set. My buddy says he and the seller will be in TN for F-100 Nationals and could probably help with deliver. Still need to hear back from another guy. Stu

Heard back from Chuck of Chuck's Trucks that he has used 22.5s, and has a set of factory new custom ones if you want to go that direction. Below is his web site. Stu

Thank you sir. I just got in and it's late here in eastern time. I'll call Chuck tomorrow morning.
Cant thank you enough, Papa Steve |
Spring is here so I'll bring this up to date. I have three sets of 89340s at present here in Illinois. We have none available in Oregon. One available set has bias ply tires that might be usable in a pinch. One has radials that aren't worth anything but might get you rolling. The third set I've pulled tires from. Stu

Something I'd like to add to this discussion. I've recently found that shipping costs can be reduced through use of the Fastenal company's third party shipping service. Might not yield as fast delivery, but on a recent shipment it saved a lot over use of the trucking company I've been using. Here is a link to the Fastenal service. Stu

Stu, per the classified the are $85+8=$93.
My question is how much would shipping be to PA for 6? |
Hi can email me at jnhoinowski@epix.net
|
The $85 is right, but no longer the amount to dispose of old tires. The $8.00 was my cost in Oregon at the time, now gone up there too. In Illinois it costs me $16 each to pull and recycle old tires. So that's $101 each. Shipping through Fastenal might depend on what part of PA you live in. I got a shipping schedule from my local Fastenal store which shows iirc $130 within one zone and $170 to the next zone. I can't assure you that those rates are current either. I would suggest going to the Fastenal site I linked above to get an accurate quote from them. I would drop the wheels at their Springfield, IL, store. A 40" x 48" pallet with six wheels weighs 320 lbs +/-, so once you specify their store location for pickup they can give you their quote. They ship COD so you would pay shipping to them at pickup. Payment to me for the wheels could be through PayPal if you wish, or postal money order. Stu

Dually bolts
Having a hard time removing Dually bolts/ inside wheels.
Any suggestions |
Keep trying, maybe 50 or more years of inertia tends to keep them in place. Plus they spec at 450-500 lb/ft of torque. Before I bought a big 1" drive gun I broke several sockets, box end wrenches, and used a 4' extender on the end of a breaker bar. Heat and penetrating oil help, but mostly it's brute force. Keep trying. And keep in mind left and right hand threads. Stu

Dually removal F4
Ok
Right side/passenger counter clock to remove - right? |
Yes, the nuts are marked "L" and "R". Left hand on the left side, right hand on the right side. Stu
|
I'm looking for a set of those 19.5 Budd wheels does any one still have a set of 6?
|
Yes, I have two sets of six. I see you are in PA, too bad you didn't speak up last week. A gentleman drove here last Saturday from PA to pick up his set. You could have maybe shared his gas cost and saved on shipping. Stu
